The newest installment of the popular simulated life game, The Sims, is selling like wildfire having moved over one million copies of The Sims 3 in its first week of release. In fact, producers of the Sims 3, EA INC, estimates that the game has sold approximately one point four million copies so far, making it their fastest selling PC game release ever. Also of note is that approximately seven million user generated items (ie Sim’s clothing and Sim’s accessories) have already been downloaded from the Sims 3 official website.
Personally, I’m not at all surprised to hear of the game’s success, as I’ve found all of the previous Sims games to be exceptionally addicting. Also, EA has seemingly timed the release of new Sims gaming editions well, choosing not to release new versions very often, instead choosing to release a series of “add on” games for each major edition.
