Important BlackBerry Security Patch Available

The company that manufactures the BlackBerry smartphone, RIM (Research In Motion), has released a patch to protect against a security breach that could potentially be used by hackers. This appears to be a vitally important update since companies are encouraged by RIM to not allow opening of attachments. RIM has announced that no hacker has yet used the bug to break into user accounts, but the patch needs to be applied as soon as possible.

If security is breached, it is widely accepted that hackers could gain hold of BlackBerry servers through the use of emails containing an “infected” attachment in PDF format. Upon opening the infected attachments by an unsuspecting user, the company servers would be compromised and allow hackers to send malicious e-mails and access the corporate e-mail database to steal private data. If you are a BlackBerry owner, keep this warning close to heart and stay safe.
