Cartier Quickly Withdraws Apple-aimed Lawsuit

In some surprising news yesterday the watch manufacturing gurus at Cartier threw a lawsuit Apple’s way. Cartier was claiming a trademark infringement violation (Cartier is well known for fiercely protecting their trademarks, btw) by two apps available for the iPhone. While the maker of the apps themselves was not named in the suit (probably easier to just go after big name, big bucks, Apple) Apple was smart to swiftly remove the two apps in question. Which apps were the route of this Cartier angst? One named “Fake Watch” and a spin off of that app named “Fake Watch Gold Edition”. Basically the apps told time on an interface that replicated the look of a high end Cartier watch.

Cartier has since withdrawn the lawsuit, as they are clearly satisfied with the fact that Apple took swift action to remove the offending applications.
